While working in a handmade bicycle studio, I learned that Taiwan is one of the top three bicycle-making countries in the world. However, we rarely see bicycles with distinct Taiwanese characteristics in the market. Thus, I was inspired to personally design a bicycle that reflects Taiwanese culture and build it by hand. Ming is a handmade bicycle named after my Chinese name.
The design draws from iconic Taiwanese cultural elements such as dargon and calligraphy. These elements reflect a strong Chinese aesthetic, and my goal was to design a bicycle that incorporated these characteristics.
To give the bicycle a clean appearance, I adopted an internal gear hub and gates carbon drive belt system in place of traditional derailleur gear units.
